Help - idea for dessert needed after Indian Main

Hi there - I have been invited to a friends for dinner and have offered to bring dessert. We are having an Indian main and I just don't know what to make!!

I am not brave enough to attempt an Indian dessert - that's my friend's background!- but I am thinking something sweet and perhaps cream based.

Hubby suggests Pavlova - do you guys have any other ideas?

Thanks Grin

I think Pavlova is a good idea. We went to some Indian friends' for dinner recently and they just served a really nice fruit salad with v ripe papaya, mango etc.

Or could you cheat and buy some halva or barfi?

I think I'll do a Pavlova after all with a raspberry coulis and fresh fruit.

I have got a sudden urge for halva now too - perhaps a sneaky bit of halva with morning coffee as I'm going out to the shops!

Or you could do something light like a syllabub or lemon posset? that kind of thing goes well with spicy, heavy dishes.

I'd do a lemon sorbet. (Assuming you don't have such a long journey it will melt - you can always put it in a cold bag.)

Pavlova sounds lovely, and you could maybe have a tropical fruit salad on the side, or do a passion fruit pavlova.

I also like a tropical fruit salad with butterscotch sauce - it's light but sweet and yummy.

Or maybe Key lime pie (I'm a bit obsessed with that atm)Smile.
