Should have added, homemade pizza dough.

well, it will get very sticky.
do you have many leftovers? can you bake a bread with it?

Anonymousbird · 17/02/2011 09:19

Hmm, didn't realise that.
haven't made it yet - making a batch for tea for the kids and their friends tonight and just thought, if making some maybe make a bit extra in case they are super hungry and/or to freeze for next time....

I would imagine it would work, but would be difficult to defrost and work with after freezing.

I make little rolls if I have left-over dough.

PomPotty · 17/02/2011 09:28

We used to make batches of dough and freeze in single portions with no problems. If it's sticky some extra flour would help (I think .... I confess that DH is in charge of pizza-making here)

glastocat · 17/02/2011 09:35

I freeze it all the time, it will be fine. I find it easier to roll it out flat before freezing, but you don't have to.

mousymouse · 17/02/2011 09:52

glasto do you freeze it between paper then? or roll it up like the ready dough in the supermarket?

megonthemoon · 17/02/2011 09:54

It is a bit sticky but works just fine - you just need extra flour to roll it out with. I tend to rub a bit of oil on the inside of a freezer bag and freeze the dough in that - the oil can help it not stick to the bag when you remove it.

PomPotty · 17/02/2011 09:59

Oh good oil tip! Thanks Smile

NormaDesmond · 17/02/2011 09:59

I freeze it often and find that as long as I give it time to defrost and put it in a warm place to rise again it's fine.

My breadmaker receipe says you need to bake it as a pizza base for 5 mins if you want to freeze it. Bit of a pain but would get round the sticky problem.

CarrieABag · 17/02/2011 10:02

I have a recipe that suggests you roll it out then cook it for 5 mins just to make it easier to handle. Then defrost, add toppngs and finish off the cooking.

CarrieABag · 17/02/2011 10:02

snap!

MmeLindt · 17/02/2011 10:24

Oh, that is clever.

Not normally worth it here, as I find pizza dough so easy and quick to make. But would be great for a very quick supper.

Anonymousbird · 17/02/2011 11:05

I like these tips, thanks. I've never had left overs before, always just make and use (as you say, it's easy!) but just in a bit of a "batch make/cook and freeze" stage right now, so wondered whether it would work with dough!

I will give it a go!

Cheers, all.
