I can't believe I've forgotten something so simple. I know you melt the choclate and stir in conflakes or rice crispies, but what about butter and does anyone know what quantitites of everything. The recipes I've found all use marshamallows which I don't like

I don't add butter but I do use golden syrup.
Can't say about quantities - I just chuck it all in together.

I just use a chunk of butter, melt it in with however much chocolate I have and then add rice krispies until I think its right.

bossykate · 15/10/2005 15:18

i use only melted chocolate and crispies.

Try it with a melted mars bar...

TwoIfBySea · 15/10/2005 19:50

I never use butter and I just melt a couple of bars of chocolate and add handfuls of rice crispies until it is used up. Also nice if you add a couple of handfuls of currants (rather than raisins or other dried fruit.)

This is about the only recipe where I don't need to consult a book!

Melted mars bar!

i have a recipe for corn flake crispies, so i suppose rice crispies could be substituted:-

40g corn flakes
20g cocoa
25g caster sugar
50g syrup
25g margarine

melt margarine and syrup. add cocoa.Remove from heat, stir in sugar and then the flakes.

auntymandy · 15/10/2005 22:59

cupcakes I do the same!
Melt however much chocolate I have stir in a good spoon of syrup then add cornflakes or rice crispies or cocoa pops till it looks right!

auntymandy · 15/10/2005 22:59

or melt in a few mars bars!

babster · 15/10/2005 23:01

1 oz butter
1 tbsp golden syrup
1 tbsp icing sugar
1 tbsp cocoa powder
Cornflakes or rice crispies

Melt butter and syrup, stir in sugar and cocoa then chuck in enough cereal to cover. Really dark and sticky - yum!

Good with white chocolate too (just melted). Very moreish. I have a recipe that uses lard. It was revolting! I have found that if you just use chocolate they stay crispie for longer.
