Fussy stage - inspiration needed

Not sure whether to post this here or in allergies. DD is 14 months and is allergic to dairy, egg and white fish. She is going through a really fussy stage and is refusing to eat anything but those vegetable flavoured wotsit type things and soya yoghurt. She will sometimes eat some plain toast or plain pasta.

I personally am not a fan of the crisps, but she gets them at the CM's and they are better than nothing. I am wasting a fortune on food trying to find something that she will have. She used to eat bits of meat and vegetables, but not any more.

I need easy things that I can give her to take to the CM's, but have run out of inspiration. Does anyone have any ideas?

Oh dear, I hoped someone else would have some ideas for you but apparently not! The only thing I can think of is to send her with some of the things that you used to make the evening meal the night before so that she is still getting of food to choose from but without wasting so much.

When DD went through this I used to just give her lots of little pots of things and let her pick and choose. I tried to think more about overall balance rather than all in one meal balance:

eg -sticks of carrot/cucumber/bread with some hummous dip

  • pot of mixed cranberries/raisins/chopped apricot
-fruit kebab - pieces of apple/ pear/ banana/ grapes
  • steamed veg broccoli/ peas/ beans
  • tinned sweetcorn
etc. obviously not all at once, but pick 5 things and put the pots on a little tray in the corner of the room and see how she gets on. When you know what sort of things she'll pick, you'll know what to give your CM.

Also pita pockets are very popular in this house, particularly peanut butter and banana, marmite, honey, jam. May be worth a try as they aren't really messy and you can put practically anything in them.

my DD is the fussiest 18 month old my nursery have ever met. She lives on brown toast with peanut butter (at home only as nut allergic kids in building at nursery means no peanut butter there), ptit filous, ellas kitchen stage 1 pouches, chocolate cake, jaffa cakes, organix carrot crisps and marmite ricecakes.

I assume she'll grow out of it one day (we had progress this weekend when she ate victoria sponge with no icing)

sorry that's not a helpful sggestion but wanted you to know you are not alone
