Is it whole and alive and raw or cooked?

I've only ever had the first option:

Light bonfire in garden

Put metal bucket of water on to boil

Add lobster.

Meanwhile melt copious amounts of butter in dishes.

Cook and peel lobster, dip into melted butter, eat with crusty bread.

You can boil it or broil it. Like mmb said, melt copious amounts of butter and dip, dip, dip.

If it's only a tail, surely it's been cooked already?

Unless the poor beast had been de-tailed while alive? Which of course they couldn't do, because lobster must be cooked alive .

Anyway, if it's alive, throw it into a large pot of boiling water and bring back to the boil. Simmer away for around 10 mins for a medium one. Serve as stated with tons of butter, yum.

If it's cooked, remove it from the shell and you can do what you want really, lovely cold in a classic lobster salad, or split the tail, coat with a mornay or hollandaise sauce and grill 'til warmed through.

Oh yes, its just a tail, isn't it! Blush

Thank you all for stating the obvious , I hadn't thought this through Blush

So , take it out of the shell pour garlic butter over it and chuck under the grill .

Will that work ?
