Food prices or my son's appetite?

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed food prices drastically going up? Or perhaps it's my sons appetite that is increasing. It's expensive enough as it is with child care...

My food bills have increased by around £20 a week over the last few months and my lot still eat the same (huge) amount.

Fruit in particular has rocketed in price, with the exception of bananas Confused. £3 for a small punnet of soft fruit!!! £5 for a watermelon!!! £2.50 for a small bag of grapes!!!

It's outrageous! I might even have to start getting out my coupons...

fruit/veg rocketing may well be down to it not being in season locally...

Foodiemom125 · 09/02/2011 14:04

That's true--Or it could be rising global food prices, droughts, weather, poor harvests etc.

Is anyone considering changing supermarkets?

I know... it's just cuppa mentioned soft fruit specifically and it's not a great time to be buying that sort of thing. sorry...

Agree it's noticeable. Bread is up & so is butter by about 30% I reckon.

It was in season Robyn - I remember picking blackberries in the field near Sainsburys, then going inside the store where they were selling them for £3 for a pack of about 25!!

Anyone else get a private message from mediamummy?
