You ate a pregnant pepper?

:o

nannynobnobs · 04/02/2011 20:19

When I was bar working I once cut open a lemon which had the pips all starting to sprout inside :o I wish I'd taken a photo but I was opening up on my own and in a tearing rush :(

taffetasplat · 04/02/2011 20:29

you could probably sell it to some ridiculous top London gaff as a baby vegetable

you must eat it separately and report back if it is sweeter than the parent. with a glass of Wine, obv

FluteyBoots · 04/02/2011 20:32

I love it when you get one of those, have had a few (I eat a lot of peppers). They are always very sweet and crispy.

thisisyesterday · 04/02/2011 20:34

oh they freak me out slightly

also, orange in an orange... weird! i do eat them though and they taste nice!

taffetasplat · 04/02/2011 20:35

double yolked eggs make me feel a bit odd. Poor twin chickies!

TheMonster · 04/02/2011 20:46

I was picturing ground pepper. The thread really confused me to start with.

Khara · 04/02/2011 22:07

I once cut open a pepper to find a large moth inside and it was alive! Put me off peppers for quite some time...

twirlymum · 04/02/2011 22:10

khara I would have had a heart attack I think! I have a major moth phobia!

taffetasplat · 04/02/2011 22:47

ewww thats a bit Silence of the Lambs, isn't it?

TheMonster · 05/02/2011 10:46

I was going to guess, when I though you meant ground pepper, that you had found a caterpillar's head in it.

Ariesgirl · 05/02/2011 10:53

Anyone else ever found the outside of an onion inside an onion?

Have I described that craply?

pirateparty · 05/02/2011 10:57

I have had the baby pepper thing but once found a dead caterpillar type thing inside a pepper and it put me off them for ages just like you khara - it was disgusting. I still think about it every time I cut open a pepper!

But I also thought this was going to be about ground pepper and was really confused for a second!

CilantroLarry · 05/02/2011 10:57

I found the entrance to Narnia in a coconut.

True story.

KurriKurri · 05/02/2011 11:19

Aries girl I have had the onion thing, - I've also had a carrot shaped like a thingy.

EsmeWeatherwax · 05/02/2011 11:31

I cut open a jalapeno pepper once, and a tiny maggot crawled out of it. Disgusting, but couldn't help but laugh, poor thing must have been gasping for a drink!

TheMonster · 06/02/2011 12:12

That's a like, Cilantro. Everyone knows you get to Narnia through a wardrobe.

nannynobnobs · 06/02/2011 17:19

When my mum used to grow cherry tomatoes, my dad once cut one in half for a salad. Curled perfectly in one half of it, probably holding its breath for dear life, was a fat green caterpillar.
For a long time I couldn't eat homegrown tomatoes- the thought of cutting a fat caterpillar in half or, worse, popping a tomato in my mouth and just chewing- made me feel quite ill!

ftoomch · 06/02/2011 22:14

Oh I had a massive greyish worm in a pepper once, huge it was and sort of had tentacles coming out of it. I called my eldest over for a look (she was 3) and it made such an impression she still recalls it every time we chop peppers. She is ELEVEN.
On holiday in South Africa I bought a twin banana. Two bananas stuck together sideways Grin. Ooh we fought over it.
