Why do herbal teas make me thirsty?

I try to drink them in place of caffeine drinks, but I end up with a really dry mouth.

Why is that??

Thanks. :)

Tannin? Is it the same sort of feeling you would get from drinking strong black tea?

I get that sort of feeling from drinking fruit teas but not herbal eg. chamomile, peppermint.

Ah, yes it's fruit teas not herbal. Thanks for shedding light on that.

I love lemon and ginger but I'm SO thirsty afterwards. There is tanin in fruit tea then?

Thanks again.

Yeah, I think it comes from fruit skins (like in red wine).

Ah, that makes sense.

Thanks again for making sense of it for me! :)

Also if you use filtered water it makes ANY tea taste miles better IMO and E.If you're using bottled water some have a lot salt in them.
