Inspiration needed for informal meal for friends??

Was thinking of a couple of hot dishes but food that can be easily eaten on lap as we haven't got enough table space or chairs for everyone?

So far I've only thought of home made pizza but not sure if it's a bit boring, there will also be 4 youngish children so needs to be fairly family friendly,

any inspiration greatly received!

Chilli con carne is simple.
Serve with jacket potatoes, sour cream and garlic bread.
The kids could have grated cheese in theirs??

Yes, chilli, or lasagne or choice of both. With big salad and garlic or herb bread.
Pizza good too.

Good, proper butcher's sausages. Split in half lengthways and serve in a good long roll or panini, sauces on the side. Fried onions for people to add in on the side too.

Crudities and dip for the veggie quota.

Filling soup in a mug with a roll for those that want a lighter meal. eg spiced butternut squash or carrot and coriander.
