Pig kidney - hmm

Ever the bargain-hunter, DP came home very pleased with himself having bought a packet of pig's kidney for 45p on the Tesco clearance shelf.

Having noticed that it was only 54p to begin with, I assume that it is not a high quality substance.. so what to do with it? Can I shove it in the slow cooker with some scraggy beef and expect a miracle of unctuousness? Or is it only fit for the dog?

I tried googling, but the first result was a veterinary science youtube of an infected pig's kidney and I nearly boaked.

Right-o, well instead of waiting for you lot, I have gone ahead and started preparing the bloody things.

Kitchen resembles a field hospital from the Crimean War. Needless to say I have not missed a calling as a renal surgeon.

Any other ideas before I slow-cook the stinky bastards?

If in doubt slice thinly and stirfry with garlic and ginger. [bsmile] That's what I do with almost any unknown foodstuff.

have plonked it in the slow cooker. Should have gone for your advice LordCopper as my house is now going to smell like a pig's urinal all day.

I am not going to be asked to be the 'face of UK offal', am I?

Oh dear!

ahahaaaa DP's just walked through the door and asked "if my sister had been round with her smelly old dogs"

I was sold on the idea of a slow-cooker by wise MNers rhapsodising about getting home to that wonderful smell etc etc..

Next time do the stirfry option - at least it will be over quickly!
