I'm going to visit a recommended ethnic supermarket tomorrow and fancy buying something different to try a few new recipes... so any suggestions?

The curry leaves you bought can be frozen to keep them - then just get a handful out when you need them.

Also Mung beans for sprouting, Chana Dahl for hummous and Green lentils for dahl.

I also always buy Alphonso Mangoes by the boxful in April/May when they are in season.

I bought the curry leaves because I was watching an old episode of come dine with me and the woman on there made a curry with them... also the reason I bought the tandoori masala powder.... do you think I could find her recipe on the website though?! No chance so I've just been making it up!

Jamie Oliver has a couple of recipes which put cinnamon in tomato based sauce type things. "Jools' Favourite Saturday Afternoon Pasta" is one of my favourites. It's really easy and cheao to make but it tastes amazing, hot or cold.

It gives a really interesting taste to the tomato without making it too sweet, which I don't really like.

I always buy rice from a local asian supermarket, because it's much cheaper than the normal supermarkets. Also all the East End spices which again are much cheaper.

AuntieMaggie

I use this dal recipe - there are also some other good recipes on there.
