I think probably about 10cm.
Best to pour 650ml of water in a jug then into a dish ,that should give you a good idea . HTH

FF, You can't really equate volume with diameter unless you know the depth. An 850ml Pie Dish will be 1.5 pints.

herdingcats · 21/01/2011 17:18

FF ,thats 10" across, it would be a very shallow pie.
Can I ask is it for savoury of sweet?
As savoury pies tend to be deeper and sweet shallower. IYSWIM

If it were an 850ml dish with a diameter of 25cm then it would have a depth of 6cm (or thereabouts)

It's for Delia's Queen of Puddings.

I wish I had listened in maths Blush

"You will also need a 1½ pint (850 ml) oval pie dish, generously buttered."

Is what it says

I just filled an 18cm dish with 850 ml of water it was 3cm deep

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/01/2011 17:56

thats quite puzzling - did I go wrong somewhere?

FanellaFidge · 22/01/2011 09:32

25cm should be plenty of room then?! Confused Grin

Thank you everyone!

if it's for Queen of Puddings, deep is better

you want a good layer of the custardy gunk at the bottom, then the jam then a nice wodge of meringue.

if it's too wide it won't be right!

Thank you Catsmamma... I might wait till next time I'm out to buy one then, instead of buying online!
