Ideas for mince

Whenever we have beef mince, it gets made into Spag Bol, Chili or Cottage Pie.

I'm stuck in a rut and want some different ideas for mince.

Please :o

Meatballs?

I have a recipe for green dragon walnut meatballs - they are chinese in flavour, with garlic, green pepper, spring onion, walnuts etc in them.

Those Green Dragon meatballs are lovely! I have that recipe too.

I make meatballs and serve in a tomato sauce with spaghetti:

For the meatballs:

500g beef mince
2 rashers of smoked bacon
one onion
one pepper (any colour you like)
one chilli (optional)
garlic (as much as you like)
dried oregano
salt & pepper

put everything except the mince into a food processor and blitz

add the mince and blitz again till everything is amalgamated

leave for about 20 minutes for the flavours to develop

tip out on to a chopping board/clean worktop and then form the mixture into meatballs the size of a walnut

put them into an oven tray/dish and bake in a hot oven until cooked - probably around 20-30 minutes.

keep an eye on them as they cook - initially they will release a fair amount of moisture, but when that is cooked off they can burn quite quickly.

Whilst they're cooking, make your tomato sauce and cook the spaghetti

Serve it all with lots of freshly grated Parmesan

Something else I do with either leftover chilli or bolognese sauce:

fill some tortilla wraps, put them in a baking dish, make a cheese sauce and pour this over the top, sprinkle grated cheese over the top and bake till nicely browned and piping hot all the way through.

I make fried rice with it too, not exactly authentic, but cheap and tasty.

I got the idea from nigella's kitchen book which has a recipe for keema(which translates as mince I think) anyway I just adapt it to what I have, if you can get nasi goring paste 'tis even better.

Also LOVE tacos and shepherds pie. You could try making your own burgers too(haven't done it myself, but should try)

Here's a good one, posted on the lo-carb thread, but pretty damned gorgeous! Nigella's Thai Crumbled Beef
