I was making fish (haddock in tarragon sauce. But seeing as I could probably get hold of the last remaining smallpox sample easier than I could Tarragon its not going to happen.

dh has bought dill

Is this going to be ok, do I just add it tothe sauce the same as I would tarragon? Is it going to go with haddock??

Dill is an aniseedy flavour. Definitely one of those love or hate things.

twofornow · 18/01/2011 17:56

I googled haddock and dill - there are a few recipes so I'm sure it will be ok.

mosschops30 · 18/01/2011 18:00

are you thinking of the right thing? Tarragon is like aniseed. Unless they both are?

Dill is different in flavour, but not so very far removed and is very nice with fish, so won't be the same but reckon will work just fine.

tiokiko · 18/01/2011 18:50

Yes, definitely fine - similar flavour although I find dill a little stronger so would be a bit more sparing and add extra if you need it.

I think dill would be better - tarragon is a very strong aniseed flavour and can be overpowering. Dill is more delicate and "herby/green" tasting

i've sucessfully replaced tarragon with dill before because i cant stand tarragon and it worked

how did it go? Grin
