Lactose recipe please help

hi

i am making a birthday cake for a family member and the cake has to be lactose free has any one got a recipe for a plain cake and i would also like to know is roll on icing lactose free

Hi,

I did this recently (about a week ago). I used a normal sponge cake recipe ( the one from Nigella's Domestic Goddess) and used Vitalite and soy milk instead of butter and milk. There are only a couple of spreads that are free from milk or butter products and people on the allergies board recommended using the Pure range as well. To be honest i didn't get to try it as it was all wolfed down but i did use the same recipe to make fairy cakes and i thought they were great.

I'll try and find some of the suggestions from my threads for you.
