BANGLADESHI FARMED PRAWNS, YUK

Just been watching a programme on Bangladeshi farmed prawns which are exported to the UK, some of the farmers are using banned chemicals & unhygenic practices such as pumping raw sewage into the prawn farms, disgusting. Our authorties are unable to detect contaminated prawns due to the high number of farms exporting to the UK, best to avoid farmed prawns imo.

I love prawns but I wont be eating them any more.

I think as long as you steer clear of "farmed" prawns you should be fine. How we can allow this into the UK is beyond me but there are serious weaknesses and I for one will never eat prawns unless I know where they come from.

Will it say 'farmed' prawns on the packaging (therefore obvious to avoid) or is there some other description that we should look for?

HollyBollyBooBoo, not quite sure if 'cultivated' means the same thing as farmed have seen this description on many prawn packaging.
