Slow cookers again (sorry)

Can I just use a normal recipe and use the slow cooker or do I need to add water.

For example if I wanted to use a normal pour over sauce can I do it over chicken and just leave it for 8 hours.

Blossom - the short answer is, I don't know. BUT what I would do is try it and see what happens (with the fallback of pizza or something equally quick to prepare if it all goes horribly wrong!!!)
