Do I need to boil swede, sweet potato or butternut squash before roasting??

(Sorry if it's a stupid question Blush)

I don't - bung 'em in some olive oil or (even better) goose fat with garlic and rosemary, then drizzle a little honey over just before the end of the cooking time. Mmmmmm

I have done them according to Jamie O's recipe - parboil them so they soften a bit, and toss them in olive oil/crushed garlic that has been HEATED up first...then bung them in the oven.
