My chicken thighs are in date but when I opened the packet I was aware of the smell of them.

How bad do they smell? Wash them in some water with vinegar in it, then rinse them off. If they still smell, chuck 'em, if not then you're good to go.

Just cook 'em well Smile

They smell of ammonia, slightly fishy.

if they are off you will smell utter vileness, not just be aware of a nondescript smell.

if they've been in a fridge smell them again when they've come to room temp - I had a really off chicken once which didn't smell at all till it warmed up and then OMG!

If you have to ask then it's probably just a general raw chicken smell, which isn't particularly appetising.

You would know if it smelled off. The smell makes you feel sick.

I won't be washing them as it isn't good practice and have already put olive oil them but I will check again once they have come up to room temperature. Thanks.
