Now that I've grabbed your attention Grin

My old wok has all black flakes at the bottom so I am going to get a new one tomorrow. What should I be looking out for?

I use my wok for wok stuff, and stews etc, and to toss pasta in - use it a lot.

This thread is quite old now, but we’ve recently updated our best wok guide with plenty of high-quality products, tried and tested by Mumsnetters. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

You don't need a new one.
You shouldn't be washing it.
Just clean it out with steel wool and oil after use.

But all the black non stick is scratched off, and it looks something was burnt into the bottom of it, like soldered into it. Will the steel wool not take the coating off even more? Or does that even matter?

Hmm.
I wouldn't have got a non stick in the 1st place. They are shite. Get one from a Chinese supermarket and treat os ordered by me. Wink

Thanks Moondog.

Will go for that. Smile
