Any east Anglian foodies recommend a good restaurant in Norwich,. Bistro, curry, high end?
I haven't eaten out in Norwich for oh decades, when 'pizza one, pancakes two' was a flash night out, probably doesn't exist now.
Dh and I have the chance of a child free night in Norwich.

No, Pizza One Pancakes Two sadly departed about 10 years ago.

Um, St Benedicts is good, as are the other places run by the same people.

It has been decades.

Pinnochio's is always fairly reliable (I think that is one of the St Benedicts lot). Tatlers on Tombland is lovely but not cheap - high endish. And then there's the place that was Adlards on St Giles - Roger Hickman's. He's a friend of a friend - not eaten there but it comes highly recommended.
Good curry - Oasis on Queens Road - along from Sainsburys.

Best curry - Roti on Queens Road
Best chinese - Baby Buddha on Ber Street
My fav 20 St Johns Restaurant near to the Maddermarket Theatre. Really good modern English food with a great value fixed price menu if you eat before 7.30.

Shiki Japanese restaurant on tombland is the best japanese restaurant under £60 per head in the UK. Classics done perfectly.

Avoid the all you can eat specials nights though, full of students gorging themselves on cut price crap.

We went to www.enjoynorwich.com/eatmodernlibrary.html when we were on holiday in Norfolk last year, it was lovely.

midoriway · 13/01/2011 16:57

We had a lovely meal at Figaro's opposite John Lewis today. Good Italian food, friendly staff and good children's portions. :)

Tatler's in Tombland is also very nice

And for a really special meal out, there's By Appointment, on St Giles. It is absolutely lovely, very friendly and the environment is the perfect balance of eccentric and classy.

Mackintosh's Canteen is also very good. :-)
