Sainsburys.

Not shopped there in around 20 years.

Using ASDA/M&S for meat at the moment.

What is good at Sainsburys. Tend to stick to brands as ASDA own stuff isn't the best but happy to be told otherwise from Sainsbury.

Not a massive store to shop in. It is a fairly small town we are moving to.

Thanks.

Fruit and veg is very good quality at sainsburys. There are always offers on too, and it lasts twice as long as asda produce. The sainsburys branded items are good too. I've even used the basics stuff occasionally when having a tight month.

I have used Sainsbo's as my supermarket of choice since I moved here 6 years ago.

I find the following especially good compared to other supermarkets:

  • Harvest Grain bread from its bakery - unsliced
  • Own brand Fruit and Fibre cereal - gorgeous, much better and with much more bits in than Kellogg's
  • Some of the basics range eg mozzarella for cooking ( wouldn't eat it raw ) - much cheaper than Tescos, Waitrose essentials etc and perfectly good for cooking, also flour
  • Taste the Difference range is generally quite reliable - the all butter puff pastry springs to mind, as do the porridge oats
  • They sell an excellent range of nuts and dried fruits for baking, the best I've come across. eg shelled unsalted pistachios, much cheaper and more variety than Waitrose. About quadruple the amount of stuff they have at ASDA.
  • Love their sunblush tomatoes
  • Fruit and veg generally good quality and lasts well, good range

Their meat is probably their downfall. Its OK, but not brilliant. The lean minced beef is good, but the rest of my meat I tend to get from the butcher.
