Pancakes for Peking duck - where to buy?

I'm after those lovely thin pancakes you get in Chinese restaurants with Peking duck - where can you buy them? I have tried the local Asda and Sainsburys. Waitrose maybe? Or do I need a Chinese specialist shop?

Waitrose do them but best place is a Chinese shop you can get 100 (they freeze) for £5.

Chinese (or sometimes Asian) supermarket, freezer section. They come in massice packs - 100 or so, bundled into tens. But they keep well in the freezer.

Yep, waitrose or ocado (almost same thing!!).

taffetacat · 06/01/2011 21:45

Waitrose and Ocado stopped stocking them about 3 weeks before Christmas, and looks like they won't stock them again for a while.

If you don't have a Chinese supermarket near you, they are quite easy to make

Here's a recipe

Ooh, thank you very much everyone. Although I am a perfectly fine cook, I'm not sure I could get them thin enough if I roll them out myself. Hm, will see if we have a Chinese / Asian supermarket anywhere. Or ring the local Waitrose to see if they are going to start stocking them again any time soon.

Thanks again!

I've been looking for these too. Looks like Blue Dragon make them and Morrisons are listed as stockists on the Blue Dragon website.

here under snacks, wraps and utensils.

I got them from ocado delivery on tues!

taffetacat · 07/01/2011 16:24

Grrrrrrr

I use them every Christmas for crispy turkey pancakes with hoisin and Xmas Day leftovers. Invariably, they have issues "sourcing" them around Christmas. Angry

Report back: I sent my personal shopper (er, DH) on a pancake-finding mission (hoped it wouldn't be a wild duck chase....sorry....) and he found them in the takeaway section of the St Albans Waitrose. Horray! Roll on duck pancakes tomorrow! (leftover duck from Christmas day, mmm. Has been in the freezer - isn't two week old duck!)

Thanks again.

I brought loads today from my local chinese supermarket - they are in the freezer and very inexpensive - my advice would be to see if you have one local to you
