DH is planning to make a gallette de rois. The recipe calls for almond paste, but our local supermarket only has marzipan. Will this work out the same?

it will be slightly sweeter as marzipan is almond paste with extra sugar in it. I have always used marzipan instead as almond paster is hard to get in the sticks!

My recipe involved blending the almond paste with sugar anyway, so maybe no difference at all then. Thank you!

The recipes I've used have always called for almonds whizzed up into a flour in a processor or blender. Have you made pastry before or are you using store bought? I've made gallete de rois five times. The two times I used homemade pastry were disasterous, but I'm fairly useless at it to begin with. The store bought pastry one were wonderful.

Store bought it is!
