put them in the sink and submerge them in luke warm water.

hunkermunker · 30/09/2005 15:31

Put it in a plastic bag and put the bag in tepid water.

Ilove the frozen chicken conundrum threads, there's always onw a week - a topic board of their own, surely?

toothyboy · 30/09/2005 15:32

Defrost setting on the microwave?

marne · 30/09/2005 15:32

Or leave under a running tap again luke warm water.

hunkermunker · 30/09/2005 15:33

If you defrost it in the microwave, it will cook little bits of it where it's a bit thin.

SW - parp off

nailpolish · 30/09/2005 15:34

looks like plunging in water is the answer then

a bit scared of defrosting things in micro, they always come out half cooked

i have a real phobia of chicken, cant bear to touch it with my hands, have to use a method of forks and knives, can i just put it in the water in the container its in, and not transfer to a bag?

My microwave defrosts by weight, so I set it for a bit less than the actual weight of the chicken pieces; the thin bits don't cook but the fat bits are still a bit frozen in the middle and defrost in the fridge within the next hour or so! Bingo

sparklymieow · 30/09/2005 15:41

defrost it in cold water, it will take about 30 minutes if you run the cold tap.

nailpolish · 30/09/2005 15:42

BUT CAN I LEAVE IT IN THE CONTAINER ITS IN!??

Yes

madmarchhare · 30/09/2005 15:44

I dont like touching it either, I always cut open container with scissors and then put sandwich bag on my hand before I handle it , pathetic really.

nailpolish · 30/09/2005 15:45

oh thank goodness, i just cant bear to touch it

thanks everyone, it is in sink as we speak

yea my microwave defrosts by weight also. Its great, i never take my chicken out until I need it.
Have you seen them silver trays(dont know the name) that defrosts meats in minutes. think betterware/kleeneze do them.

MMH i cant stand handling meat either.I use a bag on my hand was LOL when I read someone else does that. I cut it with lg knife & hold witha fork, because I just hate touching it at all.
