I don't want jelly, or anything chocolatey- just a pretty normal trifle with cake, fruit , cream etc- but which fruit instead of tinned cocktail!

In the past I have used mango which was nice but wondering about other alternatives?

I think I made it with oranges and Cointreau instead of lemons - it was delish Smile

You can make a wintery xmasy one with plums stewed with spices (cardamon pods, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves) brown sugar and a little red wine. Fish out the whole spices when it's cool before assembling the triffle.

I use amaretti as a base, with amaretto and raspberries then custard, cream, toasted almonds to top

That sounds lovely, Himalaya.
