I am making a chocolate trifle (recipe from a newspaper supplement last weekend) and the recipe calls for amaretto. I seem to have run out and am not going to buy a bottle for just making trifle. THe pub will not sell me two shots of it either (to take away).
Can I substitite Cointreau?

Definitely! It will be yummy. Or baileys if you have that.

Or normal sweet sherry (you can't usually taste the type of booze in a trifle) IMO.

Thanks for the advice. The nice chef at the cafe gave me some for free. So thank you nice chef at 'Brocca'!

Or brandy would be great too (for a chocolate trifle).

Oh just saw you find some amaretto: great!
