bourbon whiskey

I'm doing a chocolatey pudding and it calls for 2 tablespoons of Bourbon. Can I use just any whiskey instead or is it a completely different thing do you know? Would rather not have to fork out on a bottle just for a few mls of it in a recipe.
TIA

Bourbon is made mostly from maize, whereas Scottish whisky is made from barley. I'm sure you could use any whisky you've got hanging around, or even brandy for that matter. But if you've got the choice, use a blend not a nice single malt!
