Salt and 18 month olds

One more quick question, how much should I worry about using stock cubes at this age. And, if they're to be avoided what should I use instead which still tastes good enough for the whole family to eat? I didn't rate the baby stock cubes at all!

Unsure about your first question, but to answer the second, Kallo do low salt stock cubes, which are pretty good. Personally, though, I'd save the money and just bung in the base for a vegetable stock (finely chopped carrots, onions and celery) into whatever you're cooking. You don't need to actually make the stock, just stick the chopped veg in, and it gives a lovely stocky flavour.

I've never worried about this to be honest. Always used normal OXO stock cubes. Never add any extra salt, and DD usually has such a small amount considering the big batch that I am cooking that it can't possibly contain dangerous levels of salt. She has a good diet otherwise, so I'm not going to stress about a stock cube now and again :)

Dp and I both like the baby chicken stock cubes. As your dc is over 12 months, normal stock cubes should be fine. Just dont add table salt to your dc's food.

I used to use Boots organic ones or Kallo but then ditched them and used the liquid stock (now Knorr brand?) very sparingly.
