Microwave with Convection oven

I have a microwave oven that is also a convection oven: can anyone offer tips/guidance on how to use it? The instruction manual basically says "Switch on and use."

Ours has pre-programs such as baked potatoes. They often come out over done bit are nice if you catch them in time. The other thing we have done is roast chicken where you just program the weight of the chicken in and it does the rest.
