What is the Best Coffee Machine?

MinkyBorage · 13/12/2010 20:49

I'm desperate for a coffee machine to buy in the Jan sales, but need to know which is the best.
I would love a cappuccino squirter thing on it.

I know you can get ones for a million pounds, and we definitely won't be buying the most expensive, but would love the best we can afford.

I found an old thread where someone posted some results from a Which? survey, but things might have changed in the coffee machine world since then.

Thanks

Erm..... doesn't anyone have a coffee machine they would like to recommend?

here?

We have Nespresso Lattissima
it's gorgeous, but we have had endless problems.
Has been replaced three times.
Just returned again from manufacturer - milk section not conecting. Only works if jiggled and held at a certain angle!!!!
The same problem is still happening and now they are sending out a new milk jug. Not convinced that will work and if not will insist on a refund.
Too expensive for it not to work right :(

What ever make you finally chose just make sure you get a bean-to-cup machne.

Yes they are more expensive but they are just so much better.
first you can get your coffee beans from anywhere and not just the makers expensive pods. Think how much that would save in a year.
The one button bean-to-cup makes it so easy to use and to use instantly. Be honest how often would you like a real coffee but cant be bothered with the effort, cleaning out jars or fiddly espresso machines. I press one button and empty out the dregerdraw every 10th cup.

I have had the same Gaggia Titanium bean-to-cup for 4 years now and use it at least 6x a day. It has more than paid for itself.

Have just bought DH the cuisinart bean to cup machine but no milk thingy. It is on a timer so you programme it for the morning. We also have had a senseo but that really only suits if you like it black.

So not much help then for you!

MinkyBorage · 14/12/2010 13:10

Where are you getting these machines from? How much is the cusinart bean to cup or the gaggia bean to cup?
Thank you belalugosi, that's great.
Iheartchristmas, that sounds like a total pita!

Rancilio is very good. We have one and it gets very good reviews at coffee geek.

Clayhead · 14/12/2010 13:42

zanz1bar - we have that machine too and I agree with you enitrely.

Nearly slapped dh when he got it but have had to eat (drink Smile) my words!

I have the Tassimo, its 1/3 (down to £70) off in Sainsburys, the pods are cheap enough and there is loads of different varietys and no mess.

Its really simple to use and the drinks are delicious, it does Hot choc and Tea aswel.

TinselinaBumSquash · 14/12/2010 13:45

Also when you buy the Tassimo you register it and get a £20 off code for thier website, i got 9 boxes of pods for only £4.50 postage with the £20 off. Grin

drivingmisscrazy · 14/12/2010 13:47

gaggia classic: brilliant. Pricey, but worth it

MrsDingDongMerrily · 14/12/2010 13:52

We use a pod one because we have will use probably 4 different types a day between us (mild, med, strong, decaff) and it is easy that way. Ours is a Nespresso (Krupps). It was also chosen because it is tiny (we have very little counter space). Very easy to use, as is the separate milk frother. You have to buy the pods online from Nespresso though. It makes good coffee very easily and we have had no problems with it in 6 months. Got it from John Lewis
