Gammon joint - what do you serve with it?

DH keeps on about having a Gammon joint - but I have never cooked one (too many boiled bacon memories from childhood). What would you serve with it?

Dauphinoise potatoes - where they're sliced thinly and cooked in the oven with milk/cream, some garlic, some nutmeg, some salt&pepper. The potato sauce stuff goes really well with the gammon. Through in some red cabbage and i think you have my perfect meal.

I either do it as a roast with roast potatoes, parsnips and other veg, or for a really easy meal I just shove some jacket potatoes in and serve it with those, loads of gravy made from the pan juices, savoy cabbage and carrots.

For a special occasion I stud it with cloves and do a honey mustard glaze and serve it as a roast.

parsley sauce

I second the cloves, honey and mustard -delicious.

I sometimes do a mustard mash potato with green beans.

We have a collar of gammon on Christmas Eve, with baked potatoes and braised red cabbage.

The DC also love it as a Sunday roast, with mashed potatoes, savoy cabbage and parsley sauce.

Mashed potatoe, really buttery, cabbage and parsley sauce.

Thanks for all the great replies - love the dauphinoise potatoes idea. Might treat the old fella this weekend Grin

There's another thread just like this.

I like to have a sauce with the gammon so I make either cauliflower cheese or potato dauphinois to go with it and I like green brans with that too.

red cabbage would be nice. Juices again.
