can I just warn anyone about to fall for the mr men 30 quid for all every single Mr Man book offer DON't DO IT as your child will require you to read every single one of the irritatingly crap books to them every night for weeks... have just lost will to live and given my box to charity GOD I HATE MISTER MEN BOOKS!!

bran · 23/09/2005 21:54

Surely it can't be as bad as reading Elmer's Friends again and again and again. DS would get me to read it non-stop for an hour if I let him. I have to admit it does get 'lost' for weeks at a time.

mancmum that is too funny!

dizzydo · 24/09/2005 08:03

LOL Mancmum agree with you 100% they are the crappiest most boring books on earth and children love them for some reason.

franke · 24/09/2005 08:29

Gosh, thanks mancmum. Really, I nearly ordered them, but you're so right. Thank heavens for mn

I didn't order the Mr Men books in the end as ds is still too young. I remember loving them as a child but I haven't looked at them since then. I suspect I will still get them at some stage in the future, but maybe only give them to ds a couple at a time.

I did order the cookbooks though as I don't have any of them but have been meaning to get the Nigel Slater ones for a while.

The cookbooks, that is the one with Elizabeth David as well as Nigel Slater, just so you know they come in ordinary paperback size not regular large cookbook size.

But they are good!

I hate mister men books too ... My boys didn't get into them when they were tiny, so I got away with refusing to read them. If they wanted they could read them themselves. DS1 (8) still reads them a lot.

I would never buy a set though, as they're a great thing for the kids to buy with saved up pocket money. They're only £1.50 in Wilkinsons.
