Had this at a chain pub the other day in London and it was brilliant.. Had it later that night I'm pregnant give me a break at a different one and it was a bit greasy but still nice.

instead of using fake meat it was battered and fried halloumi! I really liked it. With a bit of salt and vinegar it was lovely.

Tried making it home came up a bit too greasy but that was my fault i think. Need a proper fryer

Lol, do they call it vegetarian fish and chips or just halloumi and chips? Might be a bit off putting for fish-haters if they call it fish!

They do call it that! I suppose it is an easy way of explaining what you are getting. Also fish and chips is what you want to get as a tourist in london isnt in?

Ooh I've had that as well! It was yummy but got a bit much by the end, don't think I finished all the halloumi.

I first came across the battered, deep-fried cheese concept in a brie and mango chutney baguette in Sheffield in 1997 and have never looked back...:)

That sounds nice. But I think I'd want it with a salad and some sort of spicy salsa thing, rather than chips. Or maybe AS WELL AS the chips!
