Silly question but does anyone know what the difference is between vanilla Extract and Vanilla Essence...?

vanilla essence is usually synthetic

Extract = the real stuff
Essence = vanilla flavoured oil (can contain artificial flavourings)

Extract a much finer taste, natural Essence, artifical and need a lot less of it as its very concentrated.
