Hello all I'm cooking beef wellington but one of my guests is allergic to eggs. What would be the best alternative to an egg glaze do you think? Thanks!

milk?
melted butter?

I think that's what I'd do, but hopefully someone better qualified to answer will suggest something.

I'd do milk.

I tend to use milk as a glaze anyway.
Its easier to just pour out a little to use and I'm lazy like that

MaryBS · 23/11/2010 11:55

I would just use milk too

Great, many thanks

although your pastry doesn't have eggs I assume? never made beef wellington but you should check if you are using pre-made pastry.

Nope none in the pastry - just wondered what would be the best alternative glaze for a savoury dish
