QUICK SURVEY
Do you have a large free standing freezer, possibly in your utility room or the garage. One where you store larger quantities of frozen goods?

What percentage of your friends do you think have one?

You see I'm just considering a business idea but it revolves around selling larger quantities of delicious premium food to people who have access to a large freezer at home.

Many thanks.

Oh, ooops! Kent, UK.

i have one and like everyone else use it to freeze leftover home made dishes, frozen veg and fruit, my quorn mountain and cheap bread. I wouldn't buy your products but I don't tend to buy pre prepared food anyway so not your ideal customer!

ProfYaffle · 23/11/2010 14:49

Yes.

Quite a lot of my friends have them.

Wordsonascreen · 23/11/2010 14:50

I don't really understand the bulk buying aspect.. why would you need to have 20 pies in a freezer?

ProfYaffle · 23/11/2010 14:50

Just seen your 2nd post, yes, most people I know store allotment produce/bulk buy meat from smallholdings etc. I wouldn't fill my freezer with ready made stuff I'm afraid.

Wordsonascreen · 23/11/2010 14:53

Contents of my freezer:

icecubes
vodka
peas
spinach
green beans
soya beans
chicken nuggets
waffles
chicken
shoulder of lamb
salmon fillets
bread
icecream
berries (for smoothies)

NO PIES

yes.

This is quite normal where I come from - to put a number of pies in the freezer for quick one person meals. They are a very quick tasty yet filling meal in winter.

I'm thinking through various options, but I was intrigued to know if people would be interested in popping 20 (each pie is essentially for one person) in the freezer.

They are also the lowest fat pie on the market (pastry done differently but still very yummy), another point I would pitch to female customers.

But I'm getting the feeling selling direct to mums might be a harder sell than I thought.

tbh gladis, I'm not such how typical MN Mums are, I would guess we're far less inclined to go for 'ready meals' than average.

PlanetEarth · 23/11/2010 18:13

No. Utility room? Garage? Ha, ha!

Kione · 24/11/2010 15:25

No, only person I know with one is ex-MIL

Kione · 24/11/2010 15:28

And I never knew that family to eat pies. She used it for veggies and meat, she always cooked herself.

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 24/11/2010 16:28

No, but I wish I did...

Emmaroos · 25/11/2010 11:46

Yes, but I bought it because I love to cook and usually batch cook and freeze...having the freezer may indicate that people are LESS likely to pay a premium for pre-prepared food!
