Wine buffs! Since I dislike Chardonnay, will I also dislike Chablis?

Never tried the stuff but there's a special offer on Sainsbos website. I don't want to spend £10 and then find that it's vile.

TIA!

I bought those 2 at 13.99 for a tenner and today have an almighty hangover from it as does my brother and he is usually untouched by hangovers. It is qite sickly but nice too but never again back to my sauvignon blanc or rioja!

thereis - oh yes, I remember knowing that once too! Double ugh! I know what you mean about getting thirsty - this thread inspired me to do a dream shop from Majestic Wine last night!

Ilove - Chablis is a term that refers exclusively to a region in Burgundy in which chardonnay grapes are grown, which is famous for its limestone soil. Just as the grapes that make up claret are exclusively grown in Bordeaux. I think 'Cru' is French for 'Site'. Some vineyards produce better wine than others hence have been awarded 'Grand Cru', 'Premier Cru' and 'Cru' status.

Seem to remember the wines being valued due to first press second press etc

Years ago I did some wine exams, not alot stuck tho!! I worked In wine shops and my dream job would be to work in one of the posh little wine speciality shops! And I def remember learning the oak chips thing too!

Right, that's it. I was planning not to drink tonight but I'm going to have to plunder the cellar (I live in a flat but it comes with its own cave) for a bottle of this.

Thereistheball, thanks so much for that quick lesson on my fave wines! I did know that both chardonnay and chablis wines are made from the same grape, hence my starting this thread. There's so much to learn about wine! It's rather heartening to see that though I 'know' little about wine, my palate ain't too ropey!

Bum - it was almost sold out. Delivery man arrived with 3 bottles of the Chablis (ie 2 at £10 and 1 at £13.99 Hmm plus another 4 random bottles of wine to make it up to £60 (so not the 12 bottles of cheapo Chablis I was looking for).

DH turned it away, we would have had to pay delivery if we'd taken the 2 for a tenner and it sounds like it's not tip-top Chablis. So good for £5 each but not so good with delivery etc added.

Right - off on a search for a replacement Christmas white at a bargain price!
