Recipe for strawberry cake

I would love to make a strawberry cake for DD's 1st birthday, but have no clue how to do it. Is it possible to just add strawberry puree to a normal cake mixture? Would I have to add some colouring (beetroot?) to make it pink? I am a very rubbish cook, so any idiot-proof advice or recipes would be very gratefully received!

hiya, you can actually buy flavouring like lemon/strawberry and its in a little bottle like vanilla essence.
I would pop some red food colouring in with the mix too (just a tiny drop) to make it pink.
If you added strawberry puree it would make the mix too sloppy and it wouldn't rise/would flop.
I have a great sponge recipe if you are interested, works every time...
