Anyone here cooked or eaten hare before?

There's a recipe in Valentine Warner's what to eat now book that looks good.

Not hare, but done a gorgeous bunny casserole before with cream and tarragon. I would imagine hare would benefit from a slow cook?

I have cooked hare a few times. It is a lot stronger than rabbit and does need a long, slow cook. My family like it jointed, tossed in seasoned flour and then cooked all day in red wine, orange juice and stock with lots of onions and carrots. The meat falls off the bone into shreds.

mmmmmmmmmm

cor that sounds marvellous stressed.

I ordered it today from the game butcher. 5th Hare ordered that day! He wanted to know if there had been a recipe on telly.

taffeta it was a toss up between a rabbit pie with cream and tarragon and the hare. Might do the bunny pie next week.
