I'm planning on inviting my neighbours in for drinks before Christmas, no idea what to dish up, I was thinking wine, lager & soft drinks.....but what about nibbles? I fancy making my own so needs to be easy and not messy to eat.

You nice neighbour! Drinks sound spot on.

Homemade...

mini pizzas
mini yorkshire puds with a slice of roast beef and horseradish sauce
deep fried camembert wedges with cranberry chutney
any type of palmiers (cheese/anchovy/marmite!)
goats cheese tartlets
individual prawn cocktail in little glasses
mincepies

easy...

cheese platter
meat platter
crudites and dips
bowls of nuts
bowls of rosemary popcorn

easier...

buy it all from M&S!

Well, there are lots of nice readymade canapes on sale in the shops, so nothing wrong with that. I'd go for something that is easy to eat and won't make a mess on people's outfits. Was rather startled to see Nigella doing a sort of BBQ rib thing for a party once - looked incredibly messy and sticky. Also nothing that you have to fry at the last minute.

We recently did drunken devils on horseback for a party - they went down rapidly. Prunes soaked in armagnac or brandy then rolled in either bacon or Parma ham then baked in oven. Yum. Blinis always v popular - top with sour cream, smoked salmon or roe plus a piece of dill. Glazed cocktail sausages. Hummus or other dips and some nice veggies. Like the idea of the pizza - make a big one and cut into slices/wedges/squares. Cheese straws. Those Peppadew peppers filled with cream cheese (my guilty pleasure).
