What's your food plan for this week?

We're having

Roast chicken tomorrow
Rice and chicken salad with the left overs Monday
That sausage ragu pasta that Jamie Oliver made on 30 min meals the other day
Vegetable tagine
Thick vegetable soup with bread and cheese
Fish and chips

But I am finding the planning and the shopping list really hard to get inspired about at the moment, and have to be organised as otherwise we end up with nowt nice to eat in the house. I try not to spend more than £60 a week on the shop although we do always end up topping up.
Good ideas most gratefully recieved!

I made it up tbh and think I've typed it out on here before. Try searching it under my name, or under Janeite. If not, I'll type it out again later for you.

tonight we are having "chicken in pastry"

chicken breast scored and stuffed with garlic, a slice of medium cheddar (mature doesn't work) on top wrapped in pastry like a pasty. Bung in oven 180C for 25 mins.

My mum came up with it and its a staple now!

She used to make an extra one for me to eat cold for my lunch the next day, half of which my friend used to nick!

LadyViper · 14/11/2010 17:33

I choose what I can face cooking on the day, I used to make a weekly menu plan before ds, but if he is awake its tricky to cook something nice from scratch.

winnybella · 14/11/2010 17:34

Don't know yet- will do weekly shop tomorrow. Dp is leaving for a week and DS is with his dad, so it'll be just me and DD.

It'll probably involve roast chicken, pasta with smoked salmon and creme fraiche, lentil soup with smoked bacon...other than that we'll be eating lots of eggs, cheese, avocado and apples and pears as these are the things she'll actually eat...probably crepes one evening...

kitcat83 · 15/11/2010 18:08

sorry for slow reply MaDuggar
Sausage plait is like a huge sausage roll. Puff pastry with fried onions, mushrooms and sausage meat inside made all pretty by plaiting the pastry. Very easy, very tasty with mash and baked beans Smile
