pastry without butter -- any recipes?

DS is dairy allergic, and am looking for a recipe for short crust type pastry.

Use the same recipe, but with solid vegetable fat. My dm used to make lovely pastry using Echo (boak), but it worked. Wish I could make such good pastry by hand.
