I made a load of chutneys and jams a month or so ago, but the jars i had were huge. I now what to make some christmas hampers and the jars are too big, can i re-jar them or will they spoil?

You should certainly be able to rejar them. You (obviously) need to sterilise the jars. You will also need to heat up the stuff you are rejarring so it flows in just as it did the first time. If you don't, you will have air-gaps which will cause bacteria to grow. It will also make it set slightly firmer.
