First ever delivery from sainsburys arrived half an hour ago.... and they have chucked in £17 worth of meat!!!

I realise they hve cocked up somewhere, but hey, someone elses loss is my gain!

I now have 8 chicken breasts and 4 pork chops that i didnt order, but certainly wont go to waste!!!

Come on then everyone - tell me i should be honest and phone them..... not that ill listen!!!

I'd tell them, but I doubt they'll send round someone to collect the items.

frannyf · 18/09/2005 15:19

Sainsburys once sent me 3 times the amount I had ordered. I told the driver, he said to keep it.

sparklymieow · 18/09/2005 15:23

I got milk free once, I knew i didn't order any but got 8 pints of milk..... noone came to collect it so we used it.....

I love sainsbury's. Just got back from shopping there and got some lovely raspberry and cream desserts. Don't tell anyone on my diet thread!

Ring them, they are unlikely to come back for it, but I would hate to think of someone less fortunate, being charged for it.

You won't enjoy it, you know you won't.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 18/09/2005 17:15

too late! No one has bothered about it, so its in the freezer!!!

Surely you should notify them

I truly hope someone on the breadline did not pick up the charge.

Twiglett · 18/09/2005 17:18

be honest and phone them

their policy is that you get to keep it anyway

double-check your receipt that you haven't been charged for it though

WigWamBam · 18/09/2005 17:20

If you ring them, they always say that it's not worth their while sending a driver out to pick it up, and that the person whose meat it is will have noticed, will have called them, and won't be charged.

Pay by debit card at Sainsbury's and it didn't go through once - over £50 . Did I tell them?...

misdee · 18/09/2005 17:28

phone them. they will let you keep it anyway with no charge, as they cant guarentee you have stored the meat correctly, and wont be able to re-sell it, so it will go down as wastage. plus there is the 20minute rule, once things have been out of chilled/freezer for 20mins or more then it cant be re-sold.

pacinofan · 18/09/2005 18:39

Personally, I would keep it, enjoy using it and not 'phone them. Yes, it is dishonest to do so but Sainsbury's profits are HOW much?

Rest assured the customer who doesn't receive their meat will have 'phoned to complain.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 18/09/2005 18:59

ok so i feel slightly guilty about not phoning, but then Tescos had always missed something from my order - usually something i needed too - and i never got the items re-delivered.... just refunded.

Sod it - ive got 6 meals out of them now!
