cos i have just made my first meal with it-a chilli and its quite nice.

I will be using it again, are the sausages any good anyone and anything else?

used it when on slimming world diet as not a veggie.

Mince was great, as you now know.... the roasts arent bad either.

Steer clear of the sausages as far as im aware - not all that great - if not a veggie go for the Walls 95% fat free ones out of the chiller cabinet - the mediterainean ones are LOVELY!

HTH

jenk1 · 16/09/2005 20:40

thants why im using it jabm cos im on slimming world!

Not me - I'm allergic to the stuff !!

stacijc · 16/09/2005 20:41

i agree with teh avoidance of quorn sausages...YACK!

But linda mcCartnmey ones are nice.

I also use quorn mince for slimming reasons and also so i don't worry about what the cows were fed on b4 they were turned to mince lol

Kelly1978 · 16/09/2005 20:42

sausages are very nice, get the fresh ones, the quorn make. I would stay away from chicken replacements though, and burgers aren't brilliant. I only eat vegetarian at certain times, but don't eat beef at all, so we eat quorn mince quite often. Have made burgers from it myself which are quite nice, shep pie, chilli, etc.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 16/09/2005 20:42

yeah, the 95% fat free sausages are great.

little hint - day of weigh-in - only eat fruit! THen once you have been weighed, stop at the kebab shop on the way home as a treat!!!

lucy5 · 16/09/2005 20:43

Sausages are ok but need some sort of sauce, as they are very dry.

cori · 16/09/2005 20:44

Dont know about the sausages but tescos sell a breaded schnitzel thingy with feta cheese and spinach which is yummy.

jenk1 · 16/09/2005 20:47

JABM- have u been following me home?

How do u know that i have a kebab every week after weigh in?

And not just a normal one either a MASSIVE donner and chicken tikka in nan kebab !

my dp is fetchign kebabs right this minute

basketcase · 16/09/2005 20:48

If you do use the chicken pieces type quorn, make sure you use a nice spicy sauce - such as a (fat free slimming world special) mexican in a tortilla wrap with salad, natural yog, chillies etc. Don?t stir it too much or the lumps break bits off and it gets grainy. Also it reasonable as a curry as you can then have loads of rice on slimming world diet. Personally, rather I made a veggie curry with new potatoes, red onion and red pepper - but still, the quorn is ok.

I only eat quorn when on slimming world - otherwise use other brands for veggie food such as the couldron range. Their falafels, burgers and pates (almond and spinach one particularly) are gorgeous.

MrsSpoon · 16/09/2005 20:51

This is what makes me LOL about slimming clubs, the amount of people I know who attend them who straight after weigh-in join the queue at the chip shop/kebab shop/indian/chinese (delete as appropriate) myself included whenever I have tried a club!

The only Quorn I have tried is the sausages when on SW, and they were OK, much prefer Bowyers 95% fat free but they are Syns.

jenk1 · 16/09/2005 20:53

i know its silly isnt it- straight after weigh in - right lets go and pig out we,ve got a week to catch up!
There must be some psychology involved in there somewhere!

I eat lots of quorn as a veggie, and as a mum trying to keep her dh slim and the children healthy.
we like the sausages made into toad in the hole
we like the 'chicken' burgers, we quite like the 'beef' burgers but thye take minutes to cook NOT as long as pack says.
i cant bear the ribster thingys, ugh greasy. or the fake lamb......awful.
personally I like the fake steaks, but no meat eater I know has agreed with me
the pieces and mince are a life saver for pies and casseroles etc.
my dd whos 2 wont eat anything real meat but will eat quorn nuggets, quorn fillets...
hth!
have billions of recipes if you need any.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 16/09/2005 21:19

Jenk..... i havent been following you i promise - it was jsut what i did!

I might start up again once bump born, wouldnt do the classes again but definately get back on the eating side of it.

I did SW pre-jessica when i got a bit tubby, and lost 2.5 stone, so hoping it might help lose the jessica and bump weight!

wassat then?

beansprout · 17/09/2005 19:52

We eat lots of it. The trick is to do something with it. People don't just grill meat and eat it, they tend to do something else with it and it's the same with this stuff. "Meatballs" in pasta sauce - yum!

jenk1 · 19/09/2005 11:22

does anyone know if ALL quorn is free on slimming world cos i have just discovered the stuff and love it but dont want to eat too much is its not!
thanks

Not all of it is free.

The sausages are, as are the mince and the pieces and the lamb burgers.

Any of the breaded escalope type stuff isn't free, and nor are the 'ready meal' stuff.

The fresh meatballs in tom sauce are free, but the frozen ones are about 1.5 syns per bag I think.

If you're a SW member then you can find out any of the syn values on the website.
