Need a Yummy Menu for Sunday

Dh's aunt and uncle are coming for lunch.

Generally we eat at theirs and dh's aunt makes a great effort buying organic meat and starting preparations (sometimes) a couple of days in advance.

Not looking for something that complicated, but would love to serve up something yummy with a flourish - Starter, Main and Pudding.

Help!

What sort of thing were you thinking? Bigger/ lighter type of food? Meat/ fish/ vegetarian?

Hi Cestlavie. Was thinking either a meaty starter and veggie main or other way round and preferably something can make in advance and then add finishing touches to or shove in the oven.

Starter - Lambs lettuce salad with bacon bits and yummy dressing.

Then, you can't go wrong with a stew kind of thing.

I do a beef and guinness stew that can be prepared in advance. With potatoes and carrots - you could do mixed roasted veg so that you just bung it into the oven.

Or lasagne - again make in advance. I make mine in the morning to give the juices time to soak through the whole dish.

Homemade ice cream - again made in advance.

Spiced butternut squash soup with either squash crisps or sage toasts

( Can make soup day before )

Stuffed pork fillet - stuffed with pancetta, chestnuts, prunes, spinach and wrapped in prosciutto

( Can make stuffing and wrap up pork in advance, brown meat before they arrive and then 40 minutes roast then rest )

Lemon posset/lemon trifle/lemon tart

( Lemon gooooood! )

I second the bns soup for starters, maybe with gruyere toasts..

Main you could do lemon and garlic roast chicken with roasted peppers, parsnips and spuds and steamed french beans/broccoli

Dessert - apple tarte tatin, nice and seasonal!

I have mates coming round on Sunday and we are having:
Carrot soup
Boiled and baked gammon with peas, proper gravy and roasties.
My bloke's vanilla cheesecake

Not very expensive, and the soup and desert will be made the day before.

Otherwise lots of nibbles and wine!

OK, these are both really good and mega impressive.

cook pancetta and onions first - even a day before if ness!

super yummy!

Also serve it with and sons&tags=|20911 this if you can find

Starter, soup is yummy OR perhaps chicken liver parfait? If it doesn't gross you out?
