Brittle treacle toffee ??

Has anyone successfully managed to make BRITTLE treacle toffee ? If so, do you mind if I ask what the recipe was ?

I made some last year, but it was just far too sugary I think and seemed to be grainy and dissolve when trying to chew instead of being chewy !

Going to have one attempt tonight and probably end up going shopping for more ingredients tomorrow as it'll no doubt go wrong without your help !

Come on ladies, I trust you to help us !!!

I think you just probably need to cook it a bit longer. Cook it until a drop forms a hard ball when you drop it into cold water, rather than a chewy ball, IYSWIM.

Poss reduce the amount of syrup, or treacle have made really brittle toffee and it was just 120g butter to 240g sugar and a little vinegar to help it set.

Just to let you know, it was a complete ....... SUCCESS !!!!!! Really brittle initially, then went lovely and chewy in your mouth ! Was yummy yummy yummy ! Tried to get some more treacle at Tesco today but they'd sold out !! Will have to go to Morrisons tomorrow I reckon, need to make a second batch Grin
