How far in advance can I make fairy/cup cakes?

Am making cupcake type things for nursery on Friday, was going to make tonight and ice tomorrow (just orange buttercream with wee sweeties on top), but dh pulled a face and said they would be stale by Friday?

Tonight or tomorrow night?

As long as you store them in an airtight box they will be fine. Anyway the toddlers will eat the icing and smarties off and leave the cake!
