Just got the book 'Crust' that mentions getting live yeast from the bakery section of the supermarket. Has anyone done this?

Yes, then cut it into chunks and freeze it.

After freezing, you'll need to use more than the recipe suggests as it loses some of its capacity while frozen. Can't remember if you need to increase by half, or double the quantity in the recipe.
